Setting up your website template:

Step 1:
EDIT FLASH ANIMATION: | Click for more details
Open the "flash.txt" file with Notepad or a plain text editor and edit "Website Title Logo" with your name or company name. Be sure not to delete the "logo=" flash code. This will update the Flash logo on all pages. If you wish to use a graphic logo, there are instructions later in this document.

THE HOMEPAGE FLASH IMAGE CHANGER: | Click for more details
The animation on the index.html is showing 8 .jpg images. You will find these images in the "flash" folder. You can replace "image1.jpg" through "image8.jpg" with any standard .jpg images and the flash will update. Make your image sizes 200 wide x 250 pixels high. If you want to use other sizes edit the "imagechanger.js" and also the "imagechanger.fla" in the flash folder with Flash software.

Step 2:
EDIT COPYRIGHT: | Click for more details
Open the "copyright.js" file in Notepad or any text editor and edit "Company Name" with your website information. This will update the footer on all pages.

Step 3:
EDIT CONTACT INFO: | Click for more details
Open the "contact.js" in Notepad or any text editor and change the company name, address, phone number and e-mail address. This will update the contact info on the "contact" page. This is done in a .js file so search engines will not read your e-mail and you should get less spam.

Step 4:
EDIT THE CONTACT AND QUOTES FORM:

Click for current info on setting up the template forms.

Click for info on adding more fields to the forms.

Click for changing form sizes or colors.

If you want to use only e-mail on the contact page you can remove the contact form from the "contact.htm" between the comment tags.

Because of the complexity of setting up the quote form, there are notes in the "quotes.htm" to help you cut and paste to add new form fields. The form will work with most contact form scripts however you will need help files or a sample form from the script you intend to use. Most form elements work the same way from script to script, however the hidden values usually vary. You may want to consider editing the entire page in Notepad instead of a wysiwyg editor.

Step 5:
REPLACE THE GALLERY PICTURES: | Click for more details
The best way to setup the pictures on the gallery pages is not to actually edit the HTML pages and change the pictures on each individual page. The fastest way is to simply replace the .jpg pictures in the "gallery" folder with your own by overwriting the files that are there now and using the same generic names.

In the "gallery" folder, replace the 8 "Fgallery" pictures with full size photos. Replace the 8 "gallery" pictures with your thumbnails. The thumbnails are now 50 x 50 pixels. The full sized images are 200 x 300 pixels. You can make them any size that you prefer, however, it is strongly recommended that you make the "Fgallery" images exactly 200 pixels wide so the gallery pages better match the other template pages.

GALLERY PAGE OPTIONS: | Click for more details
The "pop-closeup.js" file is the script that allows images to change on the gallery pages. You can edit this file in Notepad. There are some options near the top of this file that you can change.

Step 6:
EDIT PAGES: | Software choices | Notepad Editing
Edit the text on all HTML pages with your website information. You can use a text editor like Notepad, Frontpage, Dreamweaver or any wysiwyg editor. Take care not to delete any of the HTML tags that surround the text. You will find notes inside each HTML page so you will know what areas to edit. NOTE: When editing you will not see the footer and header in some software because they are .js include files.

Step 7:
EDIT PAGE TITLES, DESCRIPTIONS AND KEYWORDS: | Click for more details
Open each of the pages and change the page titles (at the very top of the page) and also the description and the keywords with your product or service keywords. You can edit one page and copy and paste this area to the other pages. Be careful to only change what's inside the " " so you don't disturb the html code. Titles are important so your site will get a good listing at Google, Yahoo, MSN and other search engines.

Step 8:
UPLOAD: | Click for more details
Upload the pages to your hosting company server using ftp software like CuteFTP or Coffee Cup (free) or your control panel. Be sure to make a folder called picts on your server and put the pictures into that folder. Or just upload the entire "picts", "gallery" and "flash" folders.

Options:

USING A GRAPHIC LOGO:
To replace the Flash logo with a graphic logo: Delete or rename the "header.js". Rename the "graphic_logo_header.js" to "header.js". In the picts folder you will find a graphic called "logo.jpg". Edit this graphic with your logo image. The "logo.jpg" is now 60 pixels wide by 650 pixels high. It's best to keep this image the same size if possible. You will find some options inside the "header.js" for expanding the logo area.

SETUP SITE SEARCH: | Click for more details
If you want to setup your website with a site search instead of a Google search Click here for details.

CHANGING LINKS / ADDING TO THE MENU: | Click for more details
You can change the names of the links like "about" or "clients" to other names by editing any one of the 3 "menu.js" files in this template. These menus are named: menu.js, menu-top.js and copyright.js.

When editing menu names do not change the name with the ".htm" after it. Whatever you edit in any menu .js file will update every page on the website. Keep menu names short if possible. For longer page names you can add them to the template "site_map.htm". Add more pages by copying one link in the "menu.js" and pasting it right below the next. Be sure to back up your files before editing them.

ADDING PAGES: | Click for more details
You can add pages to your website by copying and pasting any one of the pages and renaming it to whatever you need. You can then add links from the other pages or on the menu.

FONTS: | Click for more details
You can change your font colors and sizes by editing the "coolstyle.css" with a text editor. Change the "TABLE" px size to change the copy on all pages. Change the "title" px size to change all the title sizes. Click above for more help.

CHANGING THE GRAPHICS/PICTURES: | Click for more details
You can replace each HTML page picture with your own .jpg image. These pictures are now 200 x 250 pixels. You can use any size picture you want but it is recommended that you keep these images 200 pixels wide. Each HTML page includes it's own image. These are named according to the page they are on. You will find all pictures in the "picts" folder.

SITE MAP PAGE:
The "site_map.htm" is linked from the index.html. It is best not to remove this link so search engines can find your site map and properly list all your pages when users search at major search engines.

header.js - PAGE HEIGHTS:
So all your pages will maintain a standard height, spacing is included in the "header.js". You can edit the "var pageheight" variable near the top to any height you need to keep short pages from being cut too short.
